FROM
THE DIRECTOR OF STUDIES DESK
The launch of this
first edition of the school magazine provides ST. Peters fraternity with a
great opportunity to showcase the broad spectrum of the programs it offers in a
bid to mould all-rounded citizens of this great nation by addressing the needs
of the following domains: psychomotor, spiritual and cognitive.
On the development of
the cognitive domain, the school offers a wide array of programs that enhance
learning in the institution. The path toward academic improvement is guided by
the school vision: “To be the Star School in Academic and Co-curricular
Activities in Murang’a County”; the school mission: ‘To Nurture, Impart knowledge; and Equip Learners with Skills to
enable them face the Challenges of a Dynamic Society with Confidence’; and
the core values which include: kaizen,
professionalism, teamwork, punctuality, spirituality, responsibility,
enjoyment, innovativeness and discipline.
The school executes
various strategies in a bid to improve academic performance of the learners:
offering remedial teaching to weak students, speed tests, contests on a
fortnight basis, engaging the services of mentors especially in Mathematics and
Science subjects, engaging the services of counselors, providing adequate text
books and revision materials; early syllabus coverage, rewarding top performers
as well as those who register improvement regardless of the grade; organizing
as well as attending symposia, benchmarking; motivating members of both the
teaching and non-teaching staff among others.
Following the
implementation of these strategies, the school has made tremendous improvement
on the academic front and we are certain that with the implementation of our
strategic plan, which was launched in the year 2013, we will attain our target
mean standard score (M.S.S) of 8.300 (B-) by the year 2018. Pursuant to
consistent implementation of the aforementioned strategies, the school has
registered an improved performance over the last five years as shown hereunder:
